The World
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ is set in the early days of Rome's eventual march to greatness - circa 300 B.C. Rome is a City State still developing its military and cultural strengths and beginning to feel its ambition for expansion and conquest. To fulfill its goals Rome will strive to extend her borders and influence - creating enemies both near and far.
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ offers vast persistent territory and hundreds of dynamically generated areas that span a wide variety of the known and Mythological worlds - offering a huge range of terrain types including cities, towns, farmland, forests, mountains, high-alpine artic regions, marshes, seashores, northern frontiers, islands, and Mythological Realms.
Player Classes
Soldier
The soldier is a master of many weapons as well as the tactics of the battlefield. He is highly disciplined, and quick to spot weaknesses in his foes.
Gladiator
The gladiator can become proficient in a wide variety of weapons and specialized styles of fighting. He has learned that he can only rely on his own instincts and close fighting techniques.
Scout
The scout is accustomed to life in the wilderness and self-reliance. He is expert with ranged weapons, as well as the techniques of survival.
Rogue
Brought up in the rough-and-tumble streets of the Republic's newly burgeoning cities, the rogue lives by his wits, coupled with the dirty tricks of stealth and street fighting.
Priest
His life is devoted to prayer, and though he is not strong physically, he is wise in the rites that summon and form spiritual power.
Healer
The healer is wise in the ways of cures and remedies. Even the spirits of those already carried off to Pluto's dark realm can be called back by a great healer.
Action Combat System
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ will implement the most visually stunning and visceral combat system of any MMOG. Our Node-Lock™ animation technology allows all characters - human, creature, beast - to execute real attacks and defenses and have them truly impact their opponent physically. As players progress in the game, they will earn and learn new Feats - attacks, defenses, and combat special moves - that come with their own unique animations. Enemies will also have a set of combat special moves that they will execute mercilessly to turn the tide of battle
Squad Combat and Management System
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ will implement the most interactive, dynamic, strategic and engaging combat system of any MMOG - challenging players before battle as well as during battle.
Before battle players will:
* Strategically select and train their NPC Soldiers in a variety of skills and abilities
* Form specific NPC Soldiers into squads to meet specific challenges
* Devise strategies and create formations for these squads to execute on command -- maximizing the unique skills and abilities of each squad
During battle players will:
* Personally participate in the battle through the melee combat of their Hero Character
* Analyze the tide of the over-all battle and react in real-time
* "Shout out" squad formation commands and special move commands to take advantage of perceived weaknesses
* Find the combination and timing of strategies, formations, attacks and defenses that will bring a victory…with the fewest squad casualties
Every moment of battle will be engaging and demanding. Success in battle will be truly determined by the skill and capability of the player, and every player will find combat highly engaging and dynamic: this is no "click and walk away" system.
Quests and Epic Quest System
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ will offer a vast number and variety of quests - over 1,200 at launch.
Rome Quests are those offered by Senators, Officials, Generals, and citizens of Rome. As a Hero of Rome, all players will be asked to serve, expand, and protect their country.
God Quests are those offered by the gods - both allied and opposing. As a Favorite of the gods, all players will be asked to complete tasks both large and small in service of the god's wishes and demands…and whims.
Epics Quests: every Hero in Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ is on a game-spanning Epic Quest path. On top of all that a Hero may choose to do for his country or god, he or she is destine to fulfill a path of challenges, trials, and tests that span across all levels and lead to that character's ultimate reward.
Dynamic Zones
Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising™ will implement an industry leading technology that will spawn private territories, regions, or arenas for individuals and groups.
Dynamic Zones™ allow for a variety of game-play advances including scripted linear quests offering the best of single-player game mechanic that include triggers, traps, and unique characters and dialogue. Players and groups will always be the unspoiled heroes of their quests…if they have what it takes to be successful.
Dynamic Zones™ also allow Replayable Arenas like the best online first person shooter experiences- areas, situations, and battlefields with a set of rules that individuals and groups can play as often and as long as they want. Storm the Fort, Defend the Territory, Conquer the Island, etc.
